Ever wonder why children (and even adults) tend to be so close to their mothers? I know some people aren’t for various reasons…
But in general, it’s Mom we are close to more than Dad.
A friend of mine thinks it has to do with feeding us as babies. He has 4 children. One from a previous relationship and 3 with his wife.
He got custody of his firstborn at around 2 months old, and he fed her through her childhood.
He insists that, while he loves all his children, his oldest daughter has always been extremely close to him.
“It’s because I was the only one who fed her from the time she was 2 months old until the time she could feed herself. That kind of imprinting leaves a powerful mark on children. It’s just normally mothers who do most of the feeding.”
“From before we can walk or talk or think, we know that without Mom we would starve to death.”
I don’t know if he is right or not – although he is sure about it.
